Un article intéressant sur la mythique Stratocaster de Rory:
Rory's guitar takes centre-stage at show dedicated to rock legendIT was a £100 guitar that starred in countless blistering live performances, and even played a cameo role on RTE's 'Garda Patrol'.
And over the years the 1961 Fender Stratocaster was involved in almost as many scrapes as its owner, the late blues legend Rory Gallagher. Now it is the star turn at the RDS Music Show, which will draw thousands of music aficionados to Dublin this weekend.
The Donegal-born rocker's beloved instrument is the centrepiece of a collection of his guitars and amplifiers at the Rory Gallagher Exhibition today and Sunday.
The guitar -- which has also been immortalised in a replica bronze statue at Rory Gallagher Corner in Dublin's Temple Bar -- is among more than 120 guitars collected over a period of 30 years by Gallagher, who is regarded as one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time.
But the Stratocaster, believed to be the first of its kind brought into Ireland by showband star Jim Connolly, was the rock legend's most prized possession.
However, it suffered considerable wear and tear, and he once referred to as being "so battered now it's got a kind of tattoo quality about it". He made sure it was in the same room with him at night and refused to let it out of his sight when it was recovered after being stolen in 1961, according to his brother and manager Donal Gallagher.
Donal added: "He loved it because it was the same guitar that Buddy Holly had -- and Rory always said one of his dreams was to have a guitar like Buddy Holly some day."
